The Eaglettes Dance Team wrapped up their 2026 competition season with strength, style, and standout performances, earning top honors and leaving a lasting impression on judges.

Nearly 300 students from Barbers Hill High School Band and Choir traveled to Pearland Independent School District on Saturday, February 21, to compete in the Region 19 UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest, showcasing their talent and dedication at one of the year’s most competitive events.

Barbers Hill High School is proud to announce this year’s Boys State and Girls State representatives.

This past weekend, the team of Carson Caldwell, Ave Cruz, Alyse Rankin, Georgia Keene, Annalise Bergen-Henengouwen, Jessie Olson, Kolbe Pool, Blake Armstrong, and Riley Bradshaw at the Frisco State Tournament and were victorious.

The Barbers Hill Eagle Educator Interns had an outstanding showing at the 2026 Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) State Competition this past weekend, earning top honors among over 3,500 students statewide.

Reflecting a decade of unprecedented growth, Barbers Hill High School has officially transitioned to Class 6A. The University Interscholastic League confirmed the move on Feb. 2, as part of its biennial realignment for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 academic cycles.

Barbers Hill High School art students recently competed in the 40th Annual Protégé Art Competition at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) in Beaumont. This highly competitive, juried exhibition draws submissions from talented high school seniors across the Southeast Texas region, all vying for selection in one of the area’s most respected student art showcases.

This past weekend, the Barbers Hill Academic Decathlon team competed at the Region V Academic Decathlon competition, earning strong individual performances and an impressive team finish.

The Barbers Hill High School varsity cheer team finished 14^th at the  UIL 5A Spirit State Championship in Fort Worth

On January 10, a total of 26 band and 9 choir students competed at the TMEA Area Auditions, seeking placement in the prestigious TMEA All-State ensembles that will perform next month in San Antonio. 

Eaglette Captain, Kaydence Haymon, took the stage at the annual Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) Convention in Houston from January 7–9 as a member of the prestigious TDEA All-State Dance Team. Representing her school among dancers from across the state of Texas, Kaydence participated in an immersive convention experience that included a Collegiate Showcase and Fair, leadership training, master classes, choreography sessions, and collaborative networking opportunities.

The future of education was on full display as Barbers Hill High School Eagle Educator Intern students recently competed at the Texas Association of Future Educators Area Competition held at Lone Star College–University Park. The event brought together students from numerous districts and showcased the passion, creativity, and commitment of those aspiring to become tomorrow’s educators.

On Friday, December 12, Barbers Hill High School students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a Mock Trial competition at the historic Anahuac Courthouse. Under the guidance of local legal professionals and courthouse staff, our students demonstrated poise, preparation, and a deep understanding of courtroom procedure.

Barbers Hill High School is proud to announce that two outstanding sophomores have been selected to represent our campus at the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Conference this summer. This respected program brings together student leaders from across the state to develop their leadership abilities, strengthen their confidence, and inspire a continued commitment to service.

On December 2, members of the Soaring Eagle Band traveled to Lee High School to compete in the TMEA Region 19 5A All-Region Band auditions—returning home with historic results.

A group of Barbers Hill High School Production students traveled to Grapevine before the Thanksgiving break to participate in the 2025 Texas Thespian Festival, one of the largest theatre education events in the nation. This year’s festival hosted more than 6,000 student performers, technicians, and leaders who competed in a wide range of Individual and Group Events.

Three Barbers Hill High School athletes officially committed to playing collegiate sports during the early national signing period for sports other than football. The annual signing event, attended by coaches, family, friends, and classmates, took place in the school's competition gym.

The Barbers Hill High School community is proud to announce the newest addition to its faculty, Colonel Shaunte Cooper, who has joined the Barbers Hill family as the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor for the Barbers Hill Air Force Junior ROTC program.

The Eagle Educator Intern program achieved outstanding results at the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) Area Competition held Friday, November 14, 2025, at Lone Star College–University Park.

The Barbers Hill High School Varsity Mixed Choir, known as the Meistersingers, achieved an outstanding milestone at this year’s Kemah Choir Days Competition, earning 1st Runner-Up in the high school division among 68 participating choirs.

Barbers Hill High School senior Shannon Lesher recently stood out during the English IV Technical Writing Mock Interviews. As part of the project, all seniors participated in simulated professional interviews designed to strengthen their communication and career-readiness skills.

On November 5, 2025, the Barbers Hill High School Debate Team traveled to the Berry Center in Cypress to compete in the UIL Regional Tournament for Congress Debate.

Congratulations to the Barbers Hill Boys and Girls Cross Country teams on an outstanding showing at the Region 3-5A Championships yesterday!

Barbers Hill High School art teacher Kristen Elliott, now in her fifth year with the district, recently attended a teacher retreat at the Holdsworth Center in Austin, Texas. Ms. Elliott was nominated for this honor by Cristina Correa, the 2025 TAEA Texas Art Educator of the Year. Out of more than 1,300 nominations, 150 Texas educators from the greater Houston area were selected for a weekend of reflection, connection, and renewal. The retreat brought together passionate Texas educators to reflect, recharge, and celebrate the meaningful work they do for their students each day.

In a dazzling display of musical might, the Soaring Eagle Band & Color Guard blasted through the UIL Region 19 Marching Contest on October 18, earning straight Division 1 ratings across the board. Now, with instruments blazing and hammers pounding, they march onward to the UIL Area E Contest on November 1 at Ray Maddry Stadium in Channelview.  Their next epic battle awaits, and times will be posted soon. 

Barbers Hill High School volleyball coach Casey Veen reached a monumental career milestone recently, recording her 400th victory -- a testament to more than a decade of dedication to the sport and her athletes. Veen, whose 11th-ranked Eagles currently boast an impressive 30-5 record and are all but guaranteed their 24th consecutive playoff berth, crossed the 400-win threshold just a year after securing her 300th.

Cadet Col. Christian Irwin has been appointed Cadet Wing Commander for the Barbers Hill High School JROTC program — the highest-ranking cadet leadership position. In this role, Irwin is responsible for overseeing the entire cadet corps, managing the leadership team and ensuring the overall effectiveness of training, operations and events.

What began as a spark of inspiration over Christmas break has now become a district-wide innovation benefiting thousands of students and staff across Barbers Hill ISD.

Just days after devastating floods swept through the Hill Country, Texas FFA chapters stepped up. When the call went out to support those impacted, Barbers Hill FFA chapter joined in without hesitation.

Barbers Hill High School has officially completed a significant $75 million expansion, increasing the school's footprint by 30 percent and more than doubling its original size. The extensive project, driven by the Barbers Hill ISD’s growing student population, adds 150,000 square feet of new construction, renovates 32,000 square feet of existing space, and provides 73,000 square feet for 256 new parking spaces.

The Eagle Educator Interns attended the Educators Rising National Competition June 25-29 in Orlando, FL! Over 3,500 student competitors across the US attended the competition. 

Barbers Hill High School is proud to announce that our Website Design Team has achieved national recognition at the 2025 BPA National Leadership Conference! The team, Drew Hunt, Victoria Novak, Clin Shaiju, Josh Zamora, not only advanced to the Finals but also took the stage and placed 5th in the nation.

This incredible accomplishment reflects the team’s hard work, innovation, and collaborative spirit. Congratulations to these talented students for representing Barbers Hill with pride on the national stage!
