Humanities Honors examines and analyzes historical and cultural movements as reflected in various art forms;
the conditions that encourage creativity; and the manner in which art responds to political, social and
philosophical movements. Critical reading and writing are stressed.

**Acceptance to the Decathlon Team is
required to participate.

Anchor Club provides service and leadership opportunities for members that will prove to be invaluable in transitioning into the role of adulthood. members make a difference in their community and form bonds of friendship while working together to do more, care more, and be more!

The BH Bass Club is open to all BHHS students. We are a member of the Southeast Texas High School Fishing Association which is the largest tournament trail in the nation. Our season consists of five qualifying tournaments and a two-day championship. The season runs from January through May. 

If you love to fish and love the outdoors, this is the club for you!

BPA is a nationally recognized CTE CTSO and has many chapters across the state of Texas and the nation. We want to help students develop leadership abilities through participation in career and technical education.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives... one heart at a time. Our chapter maintains over 550 members.

FFA members may choose to participate by training for a leadership team, chapter conducting, radio, job interview, public speaking, skills team or try a career development event team such as meats judging, livestock, floriculture, tractor mechanics, horse, or by selecting, feeding, and grooming an animal to present before a livestock judge. They purchase the animal of choice and work everyday preparing for the show. The project requires an enormous amount of commitment and responsibility. It should be considered a family project with the responsibility resting on the FFA member known as the exhibitor. Many important experiences including the aspects of the free enterprise system, time management, self motivation, financial planning and accurate record keeping can be gained from raising an SAE, supervised agriculture experience project. Raising animal projects is not a requirement, but is an excellent way to develop responsibility, a solid character, build on a college fund and have fun along the way, a solid character, build on a college fund and have fun along the way.

Are you interested in the law or ever wanted to play the accused in a courtroom drama? Then, mock trial is for you!

Mock trial is a simulated court case involving students acting as attorneys and witnesses. The competition is held in a real courtroom with real judges and attorneys serving as the jury. The team is judged based on their ability to present the fictional case.

What is Model UN?

Model UN is a world-renowned program in which students role-play delegates representing member states of the United Nations. This is done through a simulation of UN committees and agencies, such as the Security Council or Human Rights Council debating current, relevant international topics. While participating in Model UN, students gain a multitude of 21st Century skills, that are not often practiced in a traditional classroom setting – public speaking, negotiation, and advanced critical thinking skills.

How to Get Accepted into NHS (Google Doc)

Interested students should begin the following as soon as possible:

• Maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or above.
• Documenting community service activities in which they participate in both school and community. Be sure to keep track of names and phone numbers of adults facilitating these activities. Link to Community Service Record (Google Doc)
• Maintaining good character and being responsible,
• Assuming leadership roles in extracurricular activities. For example, run for office in activities or clubs, become team captain and assume as many leadership roles as they can successfully manage.
• Keeping track of extra-curricular activities and recognition and awards in and out of school including contact information of the person in charge of these activities.

Students are invited to be members of the Select Academic Team as a result of their strong academic achievement (95^th percentile or higher) on the PSAT 8/9, PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, ACT, or other achievement assessment.

The goals of the Select Academic Team (S.A.T.) are to provide academic enrichment activities to position these selected students to become National Merit Scholars, obtain admission into the colleges of their choice, and to become competitive for college scholarships.

As members of the Select Academic Team, students will have the opportunity to participate in academic summer activities and meet regularly with an academic coach. Regular meetings with an academic coach are held throughout the school year. Activities for team members may include field-based experiences such as job shadowing, cultural and fine arts events, visits to college campuses, and opportunities to interact with experts in various fields. All academic and social activities are designed to increase students’ academic and test-taking abilities, knowledge in specific areas, and engagement in team building activities.
